Ancient history is the study of human civilization from the beginning of recorded, written history (roughly 3000–3500 BCE) through late antiquity, generally ending with the fall of the Western Roman Empire around 500 AD. It covers the foundational development of cities, agriculture, writing, and early government, spanning civilizations like Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome.
