Cryptozoology
Cryptozoology is the study of "hidden" or unknown animals—creatures, such as Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster that are hinted at through folklore, myths, or anecdotal sightings but are not recognized by mainstream. While often considered a pseudoscience due to its reliance on anecdotal evidence rather than the scientific method, cryptozoology has historically led to the identification of several real, "hidden" animals.
