Precision stonework
The precision-stonework mystery refers to the baffling, mortarless construction of ancient megalithic sites—most notably Sacsayhuamán in Peru where massive, irregularly shaped stones (some over 100-200 tons) are fitted together with such precision that a knife blade cannot fit between them. This "cyclopean" masonry, which has resisted earthquakes for centuries, challenges modern understanding of how ancient, pre-industrial civilizations quarried, transported, and shaped stone with such accuracy.
