Monthly Bigfoot & Sasquatch Sightings Review — March 2026

A monthly round-up of newly recorded Bigfoot and Sasquatch sightings, drawn from the BFRO (Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization) database. Below you'll find every report added during March 2026 — including several historical incidents being formally documented for the very first time.

NEW Sighting — Ohio, Ashland County | March 15, 2026 (Class B)

Possible tracks and wood knocks at Audubon Wetlands Preserve, Ashland

A husband and wife hiking the Audubon Wetlands Preserve heard two to three heavy wood knocks shortly after crossing the boardwalk over the cattail marsh. Later in the hike, they discovered three to four large barefoot humanoid tracks in a muddy southwest field area, measuring 14 to 16 inches in length, pressed deeply into the soft ground with visible toe impressions but no claw marks. The witness photographed the prints. bfro

BFRO investigator Matthew Moneymaker noted the location is less than half a mile from a prior Class A sighting from 2021, and suggested the knocks at the choke-point bridge may indicate one bigfoot signalling to another about human intruders entering the woods. The witness is a college professor, described as highly credible. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: Wood knock behaviour and apparent coordinated awareness of human movement has been noted by some researchers as suggestive of intelligence beyond a typical animal.

HISTORICAL (First Report) — Maine, Piscataquis County | August 27, 2022 (Class B)

All-night vocalizations at Joe Mary Pond, near Brownsville — submitted March 20, 2026

A couple camping at Joe Mary Pond near Mount Katahdin were kept awake all night by a series of whoops, woos, gibberish-like vocalisations, and whistling sounds coming from across the pond. The witness, a registered wilderness guide with many years of experience in Maine's forests, was unable to identify the sounds despite knowing the calls of local wildlife well. bfro

By 2:30am something charged through the shallow water just 8 feet from their tent and let out two large snorts. When the witness burst out of the tent armed and with a headlamp, he found nothing — no moose, no bear, no sign of what had caused the disturbance. The sounds then resumed as soon as he returned to the tent. bfro

The witness only came forward after stumbling across a Sasquatch audio recording from the Sierra Nevada mountains, which his partner immediately recognised as matching what they'd heard that night. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: The most striking detail here is the complete disappearance of whatever charged through the water just 8 feet from the tent. The witness exited immediately, armed, with a headlamp — and found absolutely nothing. No tracks, no animal, no disturbance. The immediate cessation of all sounds when he emerged, only to restart the moment he lay back down, suggests either extraordinary stealth or something harder to explain conventionally. The reported "gibberish" or language-like vocalisations are also a recurring feature in high-strangeness Bigfoot cases.

HISTORICAL (First Report) — Arkansas, Union County | September 3, 2024 (Class B)

Roadside sighting near Smackover — submitted January 2025, added to database March 2026

At 2am, a 67-year-old lifelong hunter and fisherman was driving a friend home on 7th Street outside Smackover, Arkansas, when his headlights caught a pair of red eyes peering around a tree. As the creature turned, he saw its chest, arm, shoulder and legs — covered in greyish hair mixed with black, and standing an estimated 7 to 8 feet tall with very wide shoulders. It took a single step and vanished. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: The red eye-shine reported here is worth flagging. While some eye-shine can be explained by tapetum lucidum reflection (the same effect seen in deer and cats), red eye-shine is not typical of known North American wildlife — and it recurs with notable frequency in Bigfoot encounter reports. Some researchers associate it with the broader "window areas" phenomenon studied in high-strangeness research, where Bigfoot sightings cluster alongside UFO and other anomalous activity.

HISTORICAL (First Report) — South Carolina, Florence County | January 16 & 18, 2026 (Class A)

Repeat road crossings on SC-341 near Johnsonville — submitted February 2026, added to database March 2026

A 30-year police veteran and her friend were driving west on SC 341 near the Lynches River bridges when they observed a black-haired bipedal figure approximately 6 feet tall crossing the road rapidly and descending a sharp embankment into a swampy pine thicket. Two days later, a separate friend travelling the same road at the same location saw a similar figure standing beside the road before it too descended the embankment. bfro

BFRO investigator Bill Hanna described the primary witness — a three-decade law enforcement veteran trained in rapid observation — as highly credible. The surrounding environment is considered prime bigfoot habitat. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: The repeat appearances at the same location just two days apart, witnessed by entirely different people on each occasion, is unusual even within Bigfoot literature. Whether this reflects a territorial creature on a regular route, or something more anomalous, is open to debate.

HISTORICAL (First Report) — Georgia, Bryan County | June 2023 (Class A)

Motorcycle encounter on Fort Stewart Army Base — submitted August 2025, added to database March 2026

A former military policeman riding his motorcycle late at night on Highway 144 through Fort Stewart Army Base came around a curve and caught a large dark figure in his headlights. He estimated it stood 7 to 7.5 feet tall. As he passed, the creature turned and made direct eye contact — its face described as more ape-like than human, with rugged, leathery skin and eyes that appeared to glow red in the headlight beam. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: Two details stand out here. First, the red eye glow — consistent with the Arkansas report above and a recurring motif in high-strangeness encounters. Second, the location: a restricted US military base. Fort Stewart is one of the largest military installations in the eastern United States, encompassing vast tracts of protected, largely inaccessible wilderness. Military bases appear with disproportionate frequency in both Bigfoot and UFO encounter literature, which some researchers argue is not coincidental. The witness also noted the creature appeared completely unafraid — another trait that sits uneasily with purely zoological explanations.

HISTORICAL (First Report) — British Columbia, Canada | May 2025 (Class B)

Unidentified vocalisations at Fraser Lake — submitted March 19, 2026

A couple travelling the Alaska Highway camped at Peterson Beach Recreation Site on Fraser Lake. Around 1am, while his pregnant wife slept, the witness heard approximately a dozen rapid vocalisations he could only describe as an "ahhh-WHOOP" sound — in a single sequence not repeated for the rest of the night. Unlike the owls, wolves and other familiar wildlife he'd heard all evening, he could find no match for these sounds despite two months of subsequent research. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: This is a quieter report with no overtly paranormal elements, but the Alaska Highway corridor is one of the most persistently reported areas for both Sasquatch and UFO activity in North America. The road passes through some of the most remote and least-surveilled wilderness on the continent, and has featured in numerous high-strangeness accounts over the decades.

HISTORICAL (First Report) — Iowa, Clinton County | October 22, 2006 (Class A)

Nighttime sighting on the Wapsipinicon River — submitted March 13, 2026

A fisherman camping by the Wapsipinicon River noticed an unusual noise from across the water and, moving away from the campfire to preserve his night vision, observed a figure on the opposite bank exceeding 7 feet in height, apparently foraging. When he returned with a flashlight and illuminated it, the light revealed a very hairy creature — which immediately disappeared into the treeline. The witness noted the area has a long history of similar reports stretching back to the 1960s and 70s. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: The witness noted that after the sighting, all ambient wildlife sounds ceased completely for the rest of the night — a phenomenon sometimes called "the silence," which crops up repeatedly across high-strangeness case files.

HISTORICAL (First Report) — Kansas, Douglas County | September 13, 2025 (Class A)

Extended face-to-face encounter at Clinton Lake — submitted February 2026, added to database March 2026

Two fishermen at Clinton Lake began making Sasquatch calls and received auditory responses. Around 9:10pm, after two large rocks were thrown into the water near them, one witness spotted reddish-orange eyeshine at the treeline. He walked to within 70 feet of a creature standing by a tree, which mirrored his every step backwards, maintaining exact distance for around 40 minutes while exchanging whoops and grunts. The creature was later measured by the BFRO investigator to have stood at a point consistent with a height of 8 feet 3 inches. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: Several elements here are worth highlighting for strangeness researchers. The reddish-orange eyeshine again. The deliberate rock-throwing as apparent communication or provocation. And most notably, the mirroring behaviour — the creature matching the witness's movements step for step, maintaining a precise and consistent distance, is not typical animal flight behaviour. It suggests either sophisticated social intelligence, or something more. The fact that it simply vanished the moment the witness looked away is also consistent with the kind of instantaneous disappearances noted elsewhere in this month's reports.
