Into The Tree Line. Monthly Bigfoot Sightings Review, April 2026

Welcome to StrangerTimes.net's monthly round-up of newly recorded Bigfoot and Sasquatch sightings, drawn from the BFRO database. April's edition is a strong one. A woman living alone in a Louisiana cypress swamp watches something enormous wade a waist-deep canal as if it were a puddle. Two night-shift workers at an industrial plant in West Virginia see an eight-foot creature walk directly under a security camera ( and the footage may still exist}. And from the remote wilderness of British Columbia, a husband and wife hear something push an entire tree over in dead-still air, then scream in the dark. This month's reports span five states and two countries, with two current incidents and several historical cases reaching the database for the first time.

New CURRENT : Louisiana, Calcasieu Parish | April 14, 2026 (Class A)

Property owner sees tall dark creature in cypress swamp, 3 miles north of Westlake

A woman was stacking hay bales along the bulkhead at the rear of her property at dusk when she rounded a large tree and came face to face with a very large dark creature standing upright. It immediately crashed away through palmettos and vines before turning and crossing a canal, wading through waist-deep water on two legs with enough speed and ease that the witness, a long-time resident familiar with deer and hogs moving through water, had no doubt about what she was seeing.

In the days before the encounter, her small dogs had refused to go near the back of the property and several neighbours reported their outdoor animals behaving strangely; cats trying to get inside, other animals refusing to approach the treeline.

BFRO investigator Matthew Moneymaker described the witness as a highly credible long-term corporate employee. He noted that the area's abundance of ripening wild blackberries and deer, prey that would be significantly slowed by waist-deep water may explain the creature's presence in the swamp. bfro

This account sits close to another recent Louisiana Sasquatch report, where a lone witness also described a large, dark, upright figure moving through dense southern woodland. Read: Woman Reports Sasquatch Encounter in Rural Louisiana.

🔍 High Strangeness Note: The animal behaviour in the days preceding the sighting is a detail that appears across a wide range of paranormal encounter cases not just Bigfoot. Pets and livestock registering distress before an anomalous event is documented in earthquake precursor research, poltergeist literature, and UAP encounter reports alike. It may be nothing more than animals detecting an unfamiliar apex predator. But it is worth noting.

New CURRENT: West Virginia, Berkeley County | April 9, 2026 (Class A))

Two third-shift workers sight 8-foot creature near Procter & Gamble warehouse, Tabler Station

Two employees moving railroad cars on tracks behind an industrial plant in Inwood, West Virginia, at 1:30am spotted a tall dark figure walking in the illumination of a building light approximately 400 feet away. Both witnesses independently described it as around eight feet tall, very wide, and moving with long strides. One witness described it as "blacker than black." Neither man went to investigate, they were on the clock.

The “blacker than black” description and long-striding figure seen under artificial light has some overlap with earlier southern roadside reports of large, dark, hair-covered figures. Read: Black Bigfoot Sightings Reported Along Alabama State Route 22 in Tallapoosa County.

BFRO investigator Matthew Moneymaker confirmed both witnesses are credible plant employees. He noted that the creature walked directly beneath a security camera mounted on the corner of the Procter & Gamble warehouse, a new building with high-resolution colour cameras and urged anyone with access to the security footage from between 1am and 2am on April 9, 2026 to review it immediately before retention periods expire. bfro

This report, with its night-time howls, apparent response to wood knocking and activity along the treeline, bears a useful similarity to the pattern of knock-and-vocalisation reports collected in last month’s round-up. Read: Monthly Bigfoot & Sasquatch Sightings Review — March 2026.

🔍 High Strangeness Note: This is one of the more forensically compelling recent reports in the database purely because of the security camera angle. If that footage exists and has been reviewed, we'd very much like to know the outcome if any StrangerTimes readers have a connection to the Tabler Station facility or local law enforcement in Berkeley County, West Virginia, get in touch. The description "blacker than black" is also a recurring phrase in both Bigfoot and UAP encounter literature an apparent optical quality that witnesses consistently struggle to articulate.

HISTORICAL (First Report) : Florida, Collier County | April 11, 2021 (Class B)

Daylight road crossing sighted by motorcyclist near the Everglades added to database April 2026

A motorcyclist riding north on County Line Road near Highway 29, on the edge of the Everglades, observed a figure approximately 100 yards ahead crossing the road from east to west. Initially mistaken for a person, then for a deer, the witness ruled both out: it crossed in three or four smooth bipedal strides with a long, fluid gait rather than the bounding movement of a deer. As he passed through the area where it had crossed, he noted a distinct skunky body odour not quite a skunk, he clarified, but something in that register. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: This report is worth considering in the context of the Florida Skunk Ape a creature with its own distinct folkloric and investigative history, separate from the broader Bigfoot canon. The Skunk Ape is described as a bipedal, ape-like creature standing 5 to 7 feet tall, covered in reddish-brown hair, and named for an intense putrid odour variously compared to skunk, sulphur, or rotting meat. It is said to inhabit the swamps and forests of Florida, particularly the Everglades region, precisely the environment this witness was riding through. The smooth bipedal gait, the build, the location, and critically that distinctive skunky body odour the witness noted as he passed through the crossing point all map closely onto the classic Skunk Ape description. The Everglades and its surrounding wilderness represent one of the largest and least-penetrable ecosystems in North America, and the Skunk Ape has accumulated a substantial body of reported encounters over decades. Whether it represents a separate species, a regional population of the same creature reported elsewhere as Bigfoot, or something else entirely remains an open question but this report adds a credible data point to that file.

HISTORICAL (First Report): Texas, Smith County | December 12, 2025 (Class B)

Multi-night howling and tree-fall event near Hideaway Lake, south of Sabine River added to database April 2026

A property owner in Lindale, Texas, with over 100 acres of forest behind his home was woken between 2am and 5am by howling he could not identify. He went to the tree line and shone a flashlight into the thicket at which point the closest sound stopped, while a second, further away, continued. Shortly after, something struck a high-tensile wire fence twice with a sharp metallic tap. He remained outside until sunrise, at which point all sounds ceased.

Two neighbours independently confirmed hearing the same sounds the same night. Two days later, the witness walked outside and knocked on wood within 30 seconds, a large tree could be heard splitting and falling in the nearby forest in completely still, windless conditions. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: The apparent call-and-response between the witness's wood knock and the immediate tree-fall is striking, as is the deliberate metallic tapping of the fence line suggesting not just proximity but awareness and interaction. The immediate cessation of all sound at first light is another recurring feature across multiple reports this month, worth tracking as a pattern.

HISTORICAL (First Report): British Columbia, Canada September 10, 2009 (Class B)

Boaters hear tree pushed over and scream in remote Forward Harbour, added to database April 2026

A husband and wife anchored their boat in Forward Harbour, a location accessible only by water, on a completely still day with no wind. From the shore they heard a series of sharp cracks like rifle shots followed by the sound of a tree toppling the entire sequence of wood cracking and crashing to the ground happening in dead-still air with no possible weather explanation.

That night, from inside the boat cabin, both witnesses and their dog heard a loud and disturbing scream. The witness, a lifetime hunter and shooting sports participant, filed the report years later after hearing the "Michigan Scream" audio recording on the BFRO website playing it to his wife through headphones without context. Her immediate response: "Forward Harbour."

Moneymaker noted that the tree-pushing sequence described rhythmic cracking as the trunk sways, building to a final topple is consistent with how elephants push over trees, and is a behaviour documented in multiple Sasquatch reports. Bears do not do this, he noted, and bears do not scream. bfro

🔍 High Strangeness Note: Forward Harbour is genuinely one of the most remote locations in this month's reports no roads in, and with extremely challenging terrain to contend with, including mountains and large bodies of water. The isolation is itself interesting: some high-strangeness researchers argue that truly remote, road-less wilderness acts as a kind of refuge for whatever these creatures are. The wife's instant identification of the audio recording after 16 years is also noteworthy.
